Camping Check List: This is What I Take Camping In The Countryside

Camping for me is a two-to-five day trip. Rarely do we camp out for longer and therefore the focus for our walks where we camp out overnight, is to cover as much distance as possible. As a consequence, I firmly believe in making my packs as light as possible, while being comfortable on the mountains. My Camping-pack consists of:

Back Pack’s

Opsey Atmos AG 65 – I use the large version which comes with a torso length between 50 and 58cm, 68 Litres and 2.11kg.

Osprey Aether Pro 70 – Again I use the large version which comes with a suitable torso length of 51 to 58.5cm, offers 73 Litres of space and weighs 1.84kg.

Tents

Four Season Tent

  • Hilleberg Akto – 4-Season, 1 Person Tent – Weighs 3.75Ib

  • Hilleberg Nammatj – 4-Season, 2-Person Tent, Weighs – 6.56lb

Three Season Tent

  • Hilleberg Enan Tent – 1 Person – 2.6Ib

  • Hilleberg Anjan 2 GT Tent – 2 Person – 4.63Ib

Gossamer, The One Ultra-lightweight 1-person Tent

Sleeping

Sleeping Bag (Winter) – Mountain Equipment Classic 750

Sleeping Bag Lightweight (Summer) – Mountain Equipment Starlight I. I use the “Long” Version, but it still comes in at less than a kilo. There is also a classic 300, which is slightly lighter, but it’s also twice the price.

Sleeping Mat – Mountain Equipment Aerostat Down 7.0 Mat

Inflatable Pillow – Outwell Conqueror Pillow. I know its 320g that many will think is a waste of extra weight, especially with how much I go on about cutting weight, but I just find it so much easier to sleep with a comfortable pillow, than not. This outwell conqueror pillow is my favourite.

Cooking Equipment

Titan Kettle – (Ultralight titanium with pot, mug, or bowl versatility) (1)1L Titanium pot, (1) 1.5L Titanium pot, (1) Titanium lid/plate, (1) LiteLifter™ pot handle.

MSR PocketRocket 2 Stove – works perfectly if I want something for myself. It works down to -6 degrees and including the fuel canister weighs only 413 grams. On average, it has a boil time of 2m 30sec per 0.5 litres and will boil 15 litres per 100g of fuel.

Coleman C100 Cartridges

MSR Titan Knife and Spoon Set. This is a 2-Piece Cutlery Set which is a light-weight set that you can actually use.

Morsel XL Spork. Make sure you buy the XL otherwise it’s not long enough to reach the bottom of a boil-in-the-bag

BearVault BV500 Food Container

Humangear GoToobs – For Oil/Sauce Storage

Platypus Gravity Works Water Filtration System

Re-hydration-Tablets

Nuun Electrolyate Tablets

Extra’s

tooth brush, paste 25ml. Baby wipes, Toilet paper, Travel toiletries

Dry bag – to store phone, valuables etc away from moisture

Phone/Battery Charger

GSI Outdoors Cathole Trowel
